1 & 2 September The Emma’s Trust Festival
What an amazing weekend! What hard work! What a fantastic team of family & friends, were we mad? Probably, but it was worth it, because so many people really enjoyed themselves.
Friday night was a great opener for the festival, the main stage rocked, not by the strengthening breeze but by talented local bands like Scarface, Juxstar, Stuey Much, The Brothers and from London, our young friends Dragonfly and the amazing Hednod. Meanwhile the Media Mix stage hosted back to back DJ sessions entertaining the packed marquee. Revellers danced wildly or crashed out on huge ‘Fat Boy’ bean bags. The evening came to a sensational finale on the main stage with ‘Smerins Anti Social Club’ playing out with their unique full-on big brass sound.
Saturday blew in strong and continued to blow stronger as the day progressed! The smaller tents & gazebos were completely trashed or hastily packed away. Despite the conditions crowds were cueing to come in at 2pm and throughout the afternoon nearly 800 people enjoyed the children’s activities, stalls, dance and music. All the crew worked so hard in quite extreme conditions, but the show went on! At 8pm the skies cleared, the moon shone and the evening performances added extra spring to everyone’s feet. The light show and wonderful music attracted a crowd of over 1000 people. The Media Mix marquee was brimming over with cocktails, acoustic sets and stand-up comedy. A stunning line up of acts was topped off with Fairport’s Acoustic Convention, Paperlung and the incomparable King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys.
