October 2007 – Air turns blue in Chequers!
During the tense finale to the Rugby World Cup, live games were screened at the Chequers pub. Good humoured but often excitable audiences let vent their frustrations as England came so close to retaining their crown. Quick thinking staff at the pub installed a ‘swear box’ for audible offensives not befitting a family friendly hostelry! The proceeds amounted to a whopping £57, all of which was donated to the Trust. ****** marvellous!

The weekend of the 21st and 22nd of September saw two days of music, arts and celebration culminating in a fantastic firework display. Over 2,500 people passed through the beautiful Emma’s Trust entrance at Chipping Norton Cricket Club to be greeted by fairground rides, a climbing wall, quad bikes, Caribbean food, a humungous big top tent and much more.
A wealth of talent from local and national bands and DJs came together to perform in our big top tent with a massive stage, fantastic lighting and superb visuals.
Children’s craft and dance workshops were packed out throughout the day, and the event was an undoubtedly a huge success.
We are delighted to be able to offer such a fantastic opportunity for young people from across Oxfordshire and thank the County Council for supporting this event with funding from the Youth Opportunity Fund, and eternal thanks to the numerous volunteers without whom the event would not have been possible. Now the field is empty and plans for next time are being discussed, what was your favourite bit? What do you want more of? Let us know so we can make sure Emma's Day is even better next time.
Thank you to everyone who came along - See you all next year!!

"...we held a cake sale in honour of your charity - Emma’s Trust. We worked very hard baking cakes and icing them – then finally selling them to our friends and neighbours. We also did a drinks stall, a lucky dip and "pet the guinea pigs". When it was all over we counted up the money and finally reached a grand total of £38.50. We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and hope the money goes to a good cause."
Thank you so much, Zoë, Alice and Iona, you can be sure every penny will make a real difference!

As well as performances in the pubs and an evening concert at The Theatre there will be a number of workshops with professional jazz musicians.

Winning Festival Balloon Travels 300 miles!
Little pink balloon, number 121 hurtled off into the stormy sky with hundreds of others. The gale force westerly wind carried number 121 over 300 miles in a straight line to where it finally came to rest, in a fruit tree in Horssen, The Netherlands. Mr. José Gremmen very kindly emailed us this report of his important find:
“Excuse us but we couldn't react before, because it is harvest time on our
fruit farm. Almost every year we find a balloon ticket in our orchard, which we send back to the sender, but this is the first time we get a reaction.
It's also the first time that it came from so far. The last but one ticket came from Germany. We were also amazed, but yet we think that the balloon had travelled on the wings of Emma. It couldn't be a coincidence, because I collect once a year for the Dutch asthma-fund in our neighbourhood.
Enclosed we send a picture of youngest daughter with the ticket by the name
of the place where we find it.
With kindest regards.
Family Gremmen”

An Exhibition of portraits by Sixth Form students of Chipping Norton School. Students were given a short brief to create an A4 portrait of a teenager that they know today, in which they were to capture the spirit and character of their chosen subject. The stunning portraits were displayed at The Theatre Gallery, Chipping Norton, and a number of them were sold in a sealed bid raising over £100 for Emma's Trust.
09 April 2006 Young Masters Golf Programme
Despite a distinctly wintry bite in the air, the sunshine at Heythrop Park lasted long enough for nearly 200 youngsters to try their hand at golf. PGA professionals laid on a series of coaching sessions throughout the morning and everyone really enjoyed the experience. Hopefully a few budding Tiger Woods’ will be discovered and sign up for more lessons in the coming months. Let’s hope so, as every new junior who joins the YMG programme there means Heythrop will make a donation to Emma’s Trust. Our intrepid Trust team were braving the elements and raised a commendable £150 with an Easter egg raffle and cake stall.

25 February 2006 The Greek Night raised an impressive £723. Despite Arctic conditions outside, Over Norton Village Hall warmed up considerably! Full to bursting, the party was extremely well supported, everyone enjoying a different and inexpensive night out with friends. The fun increased as the wine flowed, culminating in so-called ‘Greek’ dancing which was more a cross between the Oki-Koki and a rugby scrum!
Tremendous thanks, as ever go to our helpers who prepared the scrumptious food, provided raffle prizes, set up and cleared away and to Stuey and Henry for their musical talents.
